Although the New Edge Networks® name is relatively new to the data world, the organization has a formidable track record in data communications. In November 2000, New Edge Networks acquired West-Net, Inc., bringing over a decade of WAN Carrier experience on board. The acquisition combined a seasoned group of WAN veterans with a state of the art network for an extraordinarily synergistic mixture of resources. As such, the organization has effectively been in the WAN business since 1990, and began offering frame relay carrier services in 1993. The company has also been a complementary provider for many of the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) since 1996 and was the first carrier to offer public ATM Gateway service in the RBOC regions. New Edge Networks capabilities are further evidenced by the fact that it built one of the largest carrier ATM networks in existence from scratch in just under 24 months.
